What is your Mission?

I don't know if you're familiar with Mo Isom.  I began following Mo Isom after learning about her while reading an LSU Sports website.  She is a remarkable young lady who was the star of the LSU women's soccer team, 2011 LSU Homecoming Queen, and actually right after that honor she tried out for the LSU Football team to be the kicker.

Mo is remarkable to me not for her accolades on the soccer field or being selected Homecoming Queen or even her attempt at making the football team.  Mo is remarkable because she is an over-comer.  Not only has Mo survived adversity in some very tough events in her life, but she has thrived.  You can read her incredible story by clicking on this link:  Mo Isom's Testimony  She is not only a good ambassador for her school, but is a good ambassador for Christ.  I think it is a must read and I've been following her since I read it.

While at an LSU football game this past Fall, we were all on Victory Hill waiting for the football team and Golden Band from Tigerland to come down the hill when we spotted Mo, called out to her and had a chance to chat with her for a bit.

The Sonniers with Mo Isom
After she graduated from college with a Mass Communications degree in December 2011, Mo has gone on to do great things including setting up a ministry whose goal is to help restore faith in a generation.  She also travels across the country attending speaking events.  She also had the opportunity to go to Uganda on a mission trip and if you click on the link right here: Click here and you will be directed to a 12 minute video that documented part of that trip.

If you don't have 12 minutes, start watching at the 3 minute mark instead where they visit with Katie Davis, the founder of a ministry in Uganda.  At the 8:11 mark, Katie speaks from the heart about what 'missions' is truly all about. I've watched this little video 4 or 5 times.  At the 11:30 minute mark Katie shares some poignant words that are sure to inspire you.

"Missions is loving people and sharing the Gospel with them and that can be done anywhere."  - Katie Davis

So what is your mission?  You don't have to travel to a foreign land as Katie did, you can be a missionary right where you are.  Mo and Katie, two ordinary young ladies doing extraordinary work for God!  Just when you've lost hope for this generation, these two women shatter that mindset and give you much needed encouragement.
