The Barnyard

On the weekends we head out to to the chores a couple hours later than on weekdays. Here is the look we're greeted with.  All the animals look like they are on their second cup of coffee and wondering where 'their people' are.  I see all the adult animals.  Where are the babies?

First look in the morning
Well, Amy is hiding behind Maggie right now.

I see you Amy.
She's a cute little thing!

Good Morning, Amy!
The rest of the animals are separated into a paddock we've dubbed, "The nursery."  Each afternoon we put all the babies in the nursery so they can't get to their Mommas.

The nursery
Doing so enables us to get the milk that Daisy, Rosie, Maggie, and Nellie make all night.  The paddock has 3 strands of electrified poly-rope to keep the little ones in the paddock and away from the milk.

Lately Annie has been jumping over the top strand of poly-rope.  I think I'm going to have to run a fourth line higher up to discourage her from escaping as she gets all the milk, leaving us with none to make the delicious goat kefir we enjoy.
