Passion

Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. - Confucius
In the evenings, once the chores are done and we've eaten supper and done the dishes, we generally try to do something as a family.  The family consists of me, Tricia, and Benjamin now that the older 'kids' are at college.  For the past several nights, we've been listening to the audiobook, "Happy, Happy, Happy," by Phil Robertson, of Duck Dynasty fame.  We haven't finished it yet, but will in the next night or so.

In the book, Mr. Roberston, attributes his success to several things.  First and foremost, he mentions God's blessing on his life, his family and his business.  He also mentions hard work and sticking with something that you believe in.  Although he hasn't mentioned it (yet) and it may be implied is having great PASSION for what you are doing.  I think that ties in nicely with the quote I cut and pasted above.  If you have a great passion for something, you wake up each morning excited.  Your life's work is not 'work.'  You will spend your days doing what you love and as long as you retain that passion, it is never toil.

This could apply to Duck Calls...

Or anything else you set your mind to do.  I've encouraged my kids to chase their dreams and pursue a career that brings them great joy and happiness and to align their vocation choice with their passions.  Too many people chase the almighty dollar and slave away all day, every day, living for the weekend when they get to do what they are passionate about.

As I was ruminating about this, I began thinking about a great little video I watched by Joe York about Buttermilk, of all things, that I wanted to share with you to underscore the thought about having great passion about something.  It is only 13 minutes long and I've attached the link down below.

Can buttermilk solve the world’s problems? According to Earl Cruze, a dairy farmer and buttermilk maker from Knoxville, Tennessee, “it can help.”
